Intel 2 Dual Core or AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile?

I am quite uncertain about what I may do with my laptop. I will most likely use it for is general stuff, (opening folders, links, etc.), school stuff (typing, powerpoint, etc), surfing and downloading stuff online, watching movies, and listening to music. The ones that I am quite unsure but will most likely do it at some point would be movie editing and playing games (more specific, RPGS, straegty, and The Sims 2). I have been hearing that the AMD Turion 64 X2 is capable of playing games very well but tends to use too much power and can't do simple things like opening folders and such. The Intel 2 Dual Core is good for doing simple things but can't play games as well and other things I cannot remember... Basically, I like to get a processor that will do all the mentioned above, including the ones that I am unsure of doing at this point. Resources for processor comparison would help, but I am seriously not much of a computer person.

I go on ethical issues here. I am very anti-intel since they explicitly said that do no support free-bios. However, both are in favor over what is known as trecherous computing. (aka trusted computing) So it is a toss up. AMD supports free bios, so i go with them.
go for Intel Core Duo, well basically it doesn't heat up so bad like AMD, i used amds before and it heats up really bad, i can't even lay my hands on my laptop.. not literally.. if you wanna play game, i recommend that you have a gpu (graphics card) installed in your laptop, like nVidia or ATI, that's what they are used for.. processors just runs the game and graphics card process the graphics, even if you have the most powerful cpu but don't have gpu, it's useless.. so bottom line, stick with intel and nvidia.. and you got everything going.. be it video editing, movies, mp3s, high end games, internet, etc... ram is important too though.. get more ram for video editing! and games!!!
