Intel Computer

Where can I find a speed comparison for intel processors?

I remember that in the "olden" days processor speeds were measured in MIPS (million instructions per second). Where can I find either that or other similar indexes/benchmarks? Thanks

  1. Try http://www.download.com/SiSoftware/3260-20_4-6284746.html The Sandra Software provides free downloads of various benchmarks.

  3. Sandra from SiSoftware is a fairly popular system benchmarking application. By using Sandra, you can run a variety of benchmark tests on your processor and compare the performance with that of other CPUs. Please see http://www.sisoftware.co.uk to download the software (Note: the Lite version is free!). The CPU Scorecard at http://www.cpuscorecard.com has a variety of CPU benchmarks (though the site has pop-up ads). An excellent online source for CPU benchmarks is Tom's Hardware Guide (http://www.tomshardware.com). Please see http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu.html for more information. Their interactive CPU charts "provide a true performance comparison between AMD and Intel processors and allow ambitious users as well as decision makers and dealers to compare their favorite products in 20+ benchmark disciplines." http://www.thriftycomputing.com
