AMD vs Intel Processors comparison charts?
i'm looking into buying a computer for some heavy graphic designing (and gaming :P), i want to get a good processor and intel is just crazy pricey. I'm not familiar at all with the AMD Brand, are there side by side comparisons, such as the intel quad core XXXX is suppose to be compared with the AMD XXXX. (XXXX just means certain models) im looking at a AMD Athlon™ II X4 630 (2.8GHz, 2MB). is this good? which intel processor would this be compared to?

- there's no comparasion intel is better
- Currently running: AMD Phenom II X2 550 BE /w all 4 cores unlocked OC @ 3.8GHz aka a f'n quad core for less than $100 :)
- AMD used to be really awesome in graphic and gaming field they finally giving up and supporting intel. Intel i7 is hands down the best out there now.
- For heavy graphics and gaming, the video card will determine the outcome more than the processor will. The 630 is a very nice processor. Probably similar to the Intel Q6800.

- D/r frnd, if you are comparing AMD and Intel you have to look at the climate you will work on. The very first of all AMD needs cool climate otherwise it will hang on where as Intel doesn't. New technologies of AMD are a bit better but still they could not wave out this problem. If you can afford a cool temperature then u can go with AMD bcoz AMD has much more advantages than Intel. It is much much faster than Intel with same RAM and same clock speed and it cheaper tooooo......!!! But mind the climate otherwise you've to cry.
- When shopping for CPUs keep in mind that you get what you pay for, Intel will be alot more pricey because they do technically out perform AMD however you will be paying twice as much for a processor that performs not twice as well. If you want top of the line Intel is the way to go. If you want a great speed/cost ratio then AMD kills. By the way, If you don't plan on overclocking then the stock heat sink should suffice and you shouldn't need to worry about climate.
- Intel, no doubt about it, my core 2 quad overclocks from 2.66Ghz to 3.8Ghz no sweat, and intel has been making CPU's since the 70's and AMD has done nothing but made their "Intel Compatible" Knockoffs until about 15 Years ago.
