Intel Computer

Laptop processor comparison - please help!?

Hi, i've been looking for a laptop for a while now and think ive come across a decent setup for the price - Intel core 2 duo T9400 (2.53ghz) 4gb corsair DDR3 1066mhz ram 320 gb hard drive 512mb DDR3 ATi RADEON HD 4650 Vista home premium 64bit And that costs £455 Although it wont be used solely for games i'd ideally like it to be able to play some decent ones - (not "crysis" standard, but things like COD4, medievel 2 total war) and last me a while. Im no expert on processors or graphics cards so was wondering if anyone could give me any advice as to whether that spec is worth going for? I have the option to change the processor to an "intel core 2 extreme mobile X9100 (3.06ghz) but that bumps the price up to £890 - which is quite a jump and considering i cant change the graphics card i was wondering if that would be worth it? Any help would be really appreciated :) Thankyou to everyone for responding - its helped alot :D

  1. i think this laptop would be fine the way the it is and will play a lot of different games fine. as long as it is not an ACER or a DELL you should be good to go :0)
  2. i dont think its worth £890 for an intel core 2 extreme mobile X9100, when you only use it solely for games. and intel core duo should work fine. please answer my question. http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AkzEibQx4kI3MpzVUUuQuHkgBgx.;_ylv=3?qid=20090513061002AAzBuLI
  3. It is a really good configuration, you are right, the price increase is way much although the performance will also be finer and better. But if you ask me, ill suggest that it is really sufficient. Take Care
  4. Maybe it will be cheaper to change graphics option.Because, the processor you have mentioned is already a good one(not "Crysis" ready, but it is sufficient for COD2). The upgrade processor is very expensive, you know.Just move up along the graphics line. It's worth it. I personally prefer the one you mentioned. Just for 455 pounds,it is a bargain-hunter's choice.
  5. yes, you can play games like that smoothly with the specification. but you can not expect to play the highest video settings. :-)
  6. the core 2 extreme is well worth its price, since the higher the Ghz of the processor is usually the better, and the graphics card seems good enough for medium quality and 30 to 40 fps on it.
