Amd vs Intel core 2 duo comparison?
I would like to buy a notebook but before that id like to know with which processor from AMD can I compare Intel core 2 duo, maybe from speed?. And is core 2 duo categorized in mid segment or high for processor? Last questions, many years ago I used AMD and the processor was easily got hot (I even had to add extra fan), is it still the same with AMD right now especially for Notebook coz I'd turn on my Notebook for 12-15 hours. Thanks

- The heat issue with AMD is fairly controlled now. It really is based on what you want in terms of preference. research some benchmarking results on specific chips before jumping into buying a laptop.
- Here is a benchmark list, to give you comparisons between processors.... I like the AMD Phenom CPU's, they are very nice! http://www.cpubenchmark.net/common_cpus.html Actually Intel had issues with CPU's getting too hot for quite a while there too... It all depends on what nm and stepping/revision of the CPU you get... Companies constantly make changes and improvements to the CPU's. I haven't heard of AMD having any heat problems at all recently, but laptops get kind of hot in general. I constantly use a laptop cooler, if someone I know doesn't have one, I get one for them. Because it's just a pet peeve I have when someone doesn't take proper care of a computer. Keeping your hardware cooler and dust free really does have an impact on its life span and performance. You'll notice Intel is often ahead of AMD these days, but you really won't notice a performance difference if you're an average user just surfing the web and playing a few games here and there.
