I asked yesterday about the spec of 2 laptops which were: HP Compaq 6720 1GB Memory 80GB Hard Drive Intel® Celeron® Processor DVD Drive x8 & RW Drive Wireless-ready straight out of the box 15.4” wide-screen display Weight only 2.49kg Windows Vista™ Home Basic pre-installed HP ‘ProtectTools’ security solutions Software - MS Works and Dell Intel Inspiron 1520 1GB Memory 80GB Hard Drive Intel® Celeron® DVD Drive x8 & RW Drive Dell wireless Mini-Card 15.4” wide-screen display Integrated Intel™ Graphic Media card Windows Vista™ Home Basic MS Works 8.0 software I was told they are fairly basic and will struggle to run Vista but what about this one? Is this any better? Acer 5315 Laptop Specification Processor Type C540 Inten Celeron Processoe Genuine Windows Vista (R) Home Basic 1 GB Memory 80 GB hard drive 15.4" Widescreen Display Wireless Enabled Weight 2.8Kg Processor speed 1.86 Any better?   1. They actually will all run Windows Vista Basic, however that is the most barebones of all the Vista versions. See if you can find a computer that offers Vista Home Premiem. Also, if you can get 2 gigs of ram, that would be great. However I have and continue to use Vista Home premium with 1 gig and Aeroglass turned off. As long as you keep Aeroglass disabled they will run ok. As for which one is best, they are all pretty much the same. At that point its a matter of which brand/look you like. And check out the keyboard and see whihc is the most comfortable for you.
  2. Go for the Dell with a superior specification at no, extra cost. Make sure you get Vista Home Premium. Go to www.dell.co.uk/outlet This site is a division of Dell that sells new, laptops at reduced prices with the full, one year factory warranty. These laptops are reduced due to a cancelled order or a change specification.
