AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Vs. INTEL Core 2 Duo Processor

Guys, I’m looking to buy an expandable desktop. One I can use to install some of my old parts, including: an additional hard drive, a DVD, a 3.5” drive, tv tuner, an ATI x600 Pro (video card), etc., etc. BUT, right now I’d like to hear as much info as possible to help me decide between an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Vs. INTEL Core 2 Duo Processor. From answers to the question, “GOOD DESKTOPS…?” tacotank suggested a dual over quad core which I thought to be a really helpful and sound proposition. But, the question of AMD vs./or INTEL is hardly an easy comparison, and I’ve not yet located a good, intelligent discussion of the issue anywhere on the net. Any responses, recommendations, and references would be greatly and thankfully appreciated. Thnx again, farley1guy

  1. if i were you i would pay the extra money to get an intel processor not an amd, i would also go with a core 2 dou not a core 2 quad because you will probably not need the quad core, i would buy the e8400 processor
  2. buy intel core 2 duo E8400.it has 6 mb cache memory and 1333 bus and advanced SSE4.It even beats intel quad core procerssor like Q6600.it will easily beat Athlon 64 X2s.(they were good in comparison to P4s,Pentium Ds) go to www.tomshardware.com and at the top of the webpage click the "chart" tab and then select the desktop processor test chart(something like that) and it will show you all the processors with different tests like game frame rates /audio or video file conversion time .there you will see most times intel's core 2 duo and quad core processors are winning most tests against AMD's processors.go check your self then make the decision.i hope this helps.and that site is quite reliable as far as i know.
