Argument points for comparison between AMD and Intel processor? I am working on an assignment, what are some good argument points for a comparison/contrast between an AMD and Intel processor? I have already mentioned about clock speed, cache, core structuring (Intel use 2 existing core duos, and AMD use 4 individual cores). I do need this urgently, the assignment is due in tomorrow. Hi, i've been looking for a laptop for a while now and think ive come across a decent setup for the price - Intel core 2 duo T9400 (2.53ghz) 4gb corsair DDR3 1066mhz ram 320 gb hard drive 512mb DDR3 ATi RADEON HD 4650 Vista home premium 64bit And that costs £455 Although it wont be used solely for games i'd ideally like it to be able to play some decent ones - (not "crysis" standard, but things like COD4, medievel 2 total war) and last me a while. Why is my ram and processor subscore rating in windows vista so low? ram rating 1.8 processor 3.2 i got 3 gb of pc3200 ddr400 dual channel of mem in my computer. my processor is a intel pentium. 3.2 ghz HT 800mhz fsb. The computer does read all of the hardware; it shows the processor and mem info. on the bottom of the computer window: processor: 3.20ghz memory: 3.0gb My roomate's computer rating is pretty high when compared to mine. His computer's processor rating is 3.8 which is a intel pentium 2.8ghz, and memory rating of 4.5 which is only 1 gb. Intel 2 Dual Core or AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile? I am quite uncertain about what I may do with my laptop. I will most likely use it for is general stuff, (opening folders, links, etc.), school stuff (typing, powerpoint, etc), surfing and downloading stuff online, watching movies, and listening to music. The ones that I am quite unsure but will most likely do it at some point would be movie editing and playing games (more specific, RPGS, straegty, and The Sims 2). I have been hearing that the AMD Turion 64 X2 is capable of playing games very well but tends to use too much power and can't do simple things like opening folders and such. The Intel 2 Dual Core is good for doing simple things but can't play games as well and other things I cannot remember... Basically, I like to get a processor that will do all the mentioned above, including the ones that I am unsure of doing at this point. Resources for processor comparison would help, but I am seriously not much of a computer person.

While shopping for a laptop, I am being confused by AMB v. Intel comparisons and "cache" terms...? Comparison between a g5 powermac and an intel imac? I was happily using my intel imac 2.0 / 1gb ram/ 160gb hdd until the other day when the screen went out. Which is better in comparison for lite gaming? An Intel Pentium - 4 2.4, or a Celeron D - 2.53 (NOT duel core) I'm guessing some may say go for speed, but really, Pentium is just a better family all together. Now, if they were equal in speeds, I would just go with the Pentium, but with the difference, I'm not sure which to use. Also, I've read that the Celeron D has twice the cache from previous models, but I don't know how much the Pentium has to use for comparison. Compare Intel Pentium M Processors with Pentium 4 processors? Ive been looking hard around the net and have yet to see any comparison of desktop type pentium 4's with Pentium M and Core 2 processors. I know that looking at the clock speed alone is not enough to determine the performance of the computers as the pentium M processors have much more aggressive clock speeds. Can anyone here just.. give me the gist of what a Pentium M 1.86 Ghz processor with 2MB of L2 cache is comparable to with a desktop for Watching films and surfing the net. question about motherboard ? So I m planning to build a PC. But I have few confusions in my mind for selection of motherboard. I m new in this field so could anybody please tell me 1)Side by side comparison of AMD and Intel processors. 2)Different types of sockets I can use with these processors One another question is I have a motherboard which have one 4-pin ATX 12 volt socket and one 20 pin connector coming from power supply. So for some reason my computer fan is not running on this motherboard. So I replaced this one with another motherboard which does’t have ATX 12 volt 4 pin connector but have socket for only 20 pin connector. So when I checked its 20pin connector with a power supply tester it shows no voltage on 12volt one. All other voltages are fine. So I connected my CPU fan with motherboard on only one available cpu fan 3 pin socket. But I m wondering from where my fan would get power supply if its not coming thru 20 pin connector. Please advice.

Which is Superior...AMD Turion 64 X2 or the Intel Dual Core? Hi People, After reading a review of an HP laptop on PCWorld.com it seems clear to me that the initial testing seems to indicate that the Intel Core Duo (as of now) is a far superior processor compared to AMD's Turion 64X2. However, I am somewhat heistant to relinquish the speed and performance title to Intel, only after a review of ONE laptop. If any of you have further comments and or thoughts in regards to which processor is superior please let me know (if you have any other direct performance comparisons or reviews that would be great!). While I am not an Intel hater, I would say I prefer the underdog characteristic of AMD, but at the end of day I will ultimately choose the superior processor in making my decision for purchasing a laptop.

CPU comparison question? My friends and I noticed that our sempron64 3400+ 754 (2.0 ghz) is outperforming our intel pentium 4s (3ghz and 3.2ghz) in games like C&C3, COH, WOW, NWN, and the like. All three are not oc'ed and carry 1.5gb ram, geforce 7600 gs', and 300gigs of memory. I mean we're playing on high settings and the intels usually experience slight chopiness when the screen gets crowded and busy with fighting. I know AMD is usually better in gaming than Intel but isnt a Sempron a value processor (or an athlon 64 lite) not on par with it and not meant to compete with it? Could anyone enlighten me? Thanks!

How significant is the difference between these processors? I'm about to make a purchase to replace my laptop which is failing after about 2 years. I'm curious as too how much the difference is between these processor speeds? What is the best bang for my buck? I plan to build the system with 3gigs of ram, and with a GeForce 8800 gt 512mb.
